Definitely don’t be hard on yourself. That was the biggest lesson I had to learn. My marriage counselor is a psychologist and he said to me, “No one is harder on Colleen than Colleen.” It was an eye-opener. It’s not worth beating ourselves up. There are plenty of people in the world who will do that for us. Did you read the recent piece I wrote called, “I Fell Out of Love With Myself?” or “I Blew Up My Life?” Or “There’s a Danger in Abandoning Ourselves?” I wrote all three of those recently and they all deal with just reclaiming who we are, not beating ourselves up, and not allowing others to either.
