Hi Craig, Yes he was diagnosed and you are correct it's rare to get a diagnosis because narcissists don't believe they are narcissists and don't seek counseling. They are usually diagnosed by secondary means when they seek treatment for something else such as marriage counseling, addiction, or some other type of counseling/medical attention. Even so, it's still difficult to get a narcissist to even go to marriage counseling but I almost left him twice so he relented and went. I think the few that do go to couples counseling do so out of the arrogance that they don't believe anything is wrong with them.
