Hi Doug, I agree with everything you have said. The biggest gift is being free from someone who never had the ability to truly love you and love you well. The reason they do it is fairly simple. This is about control. These are extreme personalities. The average person would ultimately work towards a compromise if a marriage fails but these are individuals who are difficult and used to being in control and when they lose control they punish people as a means of maintiaining some control.
