Hi Doug, Narcissism is such a terrible disorder because it's so confusing to the people who married them who are adults. It's even more confusing to children. Sometimes this person seems charming and fun and other times they are no where to be found, could care less, and do hurtful things. It makes it harder for children to give up on them entirely or have a healthy perspective like I can love this parent but not be hurt by them anymore.
