Hi LeAnn, I've spent years in the counseling and research of love and relationships so you are correct I am a fixer and a rescuer. And our family of origin dictates the choices we make in partners. That's why it's not uncommon as you state to go out and choose another individual similar to the one we have left. Our marriage counselor was a psychologist and my husband was diagnosed as lacking empathy and having NPD on the severe end of the spectrum. He was and is who he is but I had to address what it was about me that made me gravitate toward him to begin with. I paid a big price for marrying him and for walking away from my own profession to build a business with him.
