Twitter Shuts Down the Most Dangerous U.S. President
On January 6, 2021, this great country was assaulted by our own people. We watched in disbelief as individuals pushed Capitol Police further up the steps. These select law enforcement officers both surprised and outnumbered by the unexpected attack.
One brought on by their own Commander-in-Chief.
The very person whose job it is to protect them from the threat of invasion.
We watched in horror waiting for additional help to arrive. But shockingly it did not. Instead, while our elected officials, law enforcement, and others were under siege our President stayed silent.
As did his inner circle.
It would take Twitter to temporarily shut down the threat known as Donald Trump.
And it would take this egregiously disgraceful event to garner the attention of any who have inflamed Trump’s agenda. To shift us back towards a single unified thought…democracy.
If you are reading this as a republican or democrat don’t bother. If you are reading this as a humanitarian and an American you may be interested in my words.
You will not see two different parties mentioned here.
The political conversation should have halted long ago. The moment it became apparent how truly dangerous Trump is. The discussion should have ceased rather than be recklessly supported by those who knew and worked with him. Those who knowingly stoked his perilous fires.
This is not about politics.
This is about narcissism.
And not just any narcissist but a malignant narcissist. An individual so extreme they have the ability to destroy a nation.
Never before has our country witnessed this type of behavior from a sitting president. Unfortunately, many interpret his erratic antics as a refreshing departure from politics.
They believe he is fighting for them.
He is not.
Trump is not fighting for Americans, he is fighting for himself.
To understand this, you have to understand Narcissistic personality disorder. One of the highly distinguishing traits of narcissism is the lack of empathy. Empathy is the ability to feel the pain of another human being. Therefore, the lack of it is an insurmountable deficit.
Because of this lack of empathy, a narcissist is unable to see outside of their own world. They strictly feel their own pain and pursuits. They live in their own version of reality, not actual reality.
A highly distorted world view.
It’s best explained by a comparison of the events of January 6th.
On one hand, America was distressed by the image of our Capitol being besieged. A branch of our government was under attack. There were people and our institution at risk and in danger.
However, Trump looked at those pictures quite differently.
With the altered reality of the mind of a narcissist.
In his worldview, this wasn’t tragic. It was a validating victory. A win. The people showing the country how unhappy they are with the election. The people who were willing to do anything to keep him in office.
Now here’s the even scarier aspect of ‘reality’ to a malignant narcissist.
They do not care if harm comes to others if it supports their desired outcome.
And they rationalize it with their distinct brand of worldview.
If people get hurt it’s not my fault. It’s the country’s fault. It’s the other elected officials' fault. It’s all the people who didn’t listen when I said I should have won the election. They brought this on themselves. I am the victim.
Trump stayed silent and didn’t send help for a reason.
Narcissists need their version of reality supported. As long as there is chaos among the people, Trump was encouraging his current agenda. He was cheated out of an election.
He couldn’t do the right thing even when people were at risk.
A narcissist rarely will, if it competes with their objective. They will not be told what to do. They will not listen. They will not choose right over wrong.
This was evident when Trump told the law-breaking, constitution threatening individuals (and I paraphrase) they were special, and he understood them. What ultimately had to be a shock to his party allies. Their sitting president was willing to sacrifice their safety and defend violent rioters.
January 6th was a wake-up call.
We can’t allow politics to overrule humanity or our democracy. And we should be frightened.
Trump is willing to burn down Washington if it will secure him a win.
Narcissists don’t like to lose and nothing unleashes their true nature as much as anger. In that aspect, this country could be in trouble long after he leaves office.
We can’t kid ourselves and say we didn’t see this coming.
I’m sure ‘That woman from Michigan’ as Trump disrespectfully refers to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, is not at all surprised that our Capitol was stormed by armed gunmen.
This isn’t about politics or parties. It’s about narcissism. A Commander-in-Chief whose job it is to protect us from the threat of invasion not provoke it.
Thankfully, Twitter took on the bully temporarily shutting down Trump’s account, and then permanently suspending it…
Poetically silencing the hatred Trump once voiced.
(The piece below certainly gives me pause as I look at the image I chose months ago…Caution tape and the Capitol Building)
