I completely relate because while married my husband wasn’t the anchor a spouse is supposed to be. I did bring up this topic once I was getting a divorce with my marriage counselor and there are only three anchors in our lives. Our parents and our spouse. Thankfully, most of the time as you point out we are able to forge ahead by ourselves.
