I do write about narcissism because my ex-husband was diagnosed as lacking empathy and having narcissistic personality disorder on the severe end of the spectrum. I write to elevate awareness because it's such a confusing and complex disorder and a lot that is written isn't necessarily correct because people haven't had a diagnosis so they are guessing and/or they haven't spent the degree of counseling and research it takes to understand it fully. I've spent more than a decade in the counseling and research of love, relationships, and narcissistic personality disorder and I always say there are some things as a journalist even I won't write about it because I don't feel qualified. It's that complex of a personality disorder.
