I had never been so angry. I actually turned bitter. Something I had never experienced in my life. I think because I felt victimized. But several things got me beyond my anger. My counselor one day said your husband is who he is and he has done all of those things but you continued to make the choices that kept you with him. He was attempting to empower me because victims feel powerless. This hadn’t ‘happened’ to me. I had ‘allowed it to happen’ to me. That and my spirituality of truly believing even bad things happen and the good will eventually be shown in them got me beyond my anger. I write about it now to help people but I never want to know that level of bitterness again. It can change a person.
