I Met Actress Anne Heche
She was a beautiful soul
My husband and I sit at the Ritz Central Park.
“Drink this,” I say. I shove my newly poured glass of cabernet in front of him.
I jump up and run towards the elevator. I know Anne Heche is performing on Broadway. When I see her enter the hotel it’s my chance to meet her.
My star-struck foolishness has left me with a problem.
I don’t have the hotel card to insert for my floor. I don’t announce the obvious. I don’t want to disrupt her evening with literal ‘fanfare.’ I’m content saying hello to someone I’ve watched on television since college.
My roommate loved one soap opera.
She convinced me to do the same. Eventually, we catch the following soap which included Anne Heche. She plays twins on Another World. Her acting is mesmerizing.
It’s no wonder she goes on to motion pictures and broadway.
“No worries,” says the makeup-free beautiful face in the elevator. “You can use my card to get to your floor.”
Now I feel guilty.
This wonderfully kind woman has no idea I’ve jumped onto the elevator just to meet her. We spend more time together than expected thanks to a motionless elevator due to my card.
