I’m so sorry this is happening to you because it happened to me. I hope you have an excellent lawyer because there are things that make certain spouses prone to what is known as high-conflict divorce. I’ve written a divorce and relationship column for many years and I write here on Medium too. My husband was self-employed and planned ahead and hid all of our assets because the greatest financial abuse in divorce is among the self-employed. Hopefully, you are young so you may have kept your accounts separate. I’m glad you have your parents. I left after several decades of marriage. I was a grown adult with teenagers but I would have given anything to still have them here and move in with them because what my husband did lasted for so long and was so overly abusive. It’s crazy what bad behavior divorcing people get away with. I wish you the best and you deserve much better than a man like this. When I had to hock my wedding rings to buy food for my children, a kind and very good man who was the jeweler looked at me while I fought back tears in my eyes and said, “Any man who would put you in this position is a man you are better off without.”
