Why You Shouldn’t Read Medium Get-Rich-Quick Articles

3 Opportunities Medium writers should focus on

I make my way through an article that leads to a Youtube link. I click on it, watch a few minutes, and scroll through the comments. I cringe as I read the words.

I’m not sure what’s worse.

The question that the reader/viewer posts or the way the writer responds. It reads something like this.

“When are you going to write about the Medium pyramid scheme of making money off of teaching people how to make money there?”

“That’s a great idea,” responds the author.

As I writer and a journalist, I find these words disappointing. As a marketer and former business columnist, they make zero sense. They are not only short-sighted but they do a substantial disservice to the platform and to those who truly want to be writers.

The kinda writer who wants to make money and actually wants the ‘written word read’ kinda writer.

I’m not being opinionated or a blowhard. I applaud earning money. I’m a marketer not only a writer. But there’s a way bigger opportunity individuals are missing by buying into the ‘Get-rich-quick’ articles.
